3Rewrite the following lines in your own words.

(1) 'Never one comes flying by
But will flutter down to drink.'

No bird flies past the pool without coming down to drink water from it.

(2) 'till off they flash
Singing sweetly their delight.'

...until they fly away swiftly, singing sweet songs to show their happiness.

4Write what you can do to welcome birds in your surroundings.

To welcome birds into my surroundings, I can do the following things:

  1. Keep a shallow bowl of fresh, clean water on the balcony or terrace, especially during the hot summer months.
  2. Scatter some food like grains, seeds, or leftover rice for them to eat.
  3. Plant small trees or flowering bushes around my home where birds can safely rest, hide, or build their nests.
  4. Avoid making loud noises that might scare them away.
5Discuss what you can do to help other animals in your surroundings. Write down any three ideas you like from the discussion.

Here are three ideas to help other animals in our surroundings:

  • Provide food and water: Keep leftover, safe food and bowls of fresh water outside for stray dogs and cats.
  • Proper waste disposal: Never throw plastic bags with food remnants inside them in the open, as animals might eat them by mistake and fall severely ill or choke.
  • Be kind and gentle: Treat stray animals with compassion. Never throw stones at them or disturb them while they are resting.
