(1) Discuss and decide what method should be used for each of the announcements given here (Oral announcement / Written notice / Both).
- Cleanliness: Both (oral in assembly + written on the board).
- Change in School Hours: Both (oral in class + written in the school diary).
- Football Match: Both (oral in assembly + written on the notice board).
- Story-telling Competition: Written notice (so students can note down dates and rules).
- Warning: Oral announcement (for immediate attention) and a written notice near the site.
- Lost and Found: Oral announcement (in assembly or classrooms).
(2) Everyone in the group reads that announcement silently but carefully, and closes their books. Then that person presents the announcement, changing one of the details in the announcement. Others spot the change.
This is a fun group listening activity to be played in class. Pay close attention to dates, timings, or colours mentioned in the announcements.
(3) Name the occasion or reason for which each of the announcements is being made.
- Cleanliness: Students were leaving their classrooms untidy after school.
- Change in School Hours: Teachers had to attend an important P.T.A. meeting.
- Football Match: A sports event between classes was scheduled on the weekend.
- Story-telling Competition: A school-level competition was organized for specific grades.
- Warning: Construction work was starting on the school premises which could be dangerous.
- Lost and Found: Someone dropped their cycle key on the school ground.
