3Answer in short.
(a) Which unjust customs have been banned by law?

Several customs that were unjust or inhuman have been ended by making laws against them:

UntouchabilityAbolished by the Constitution of Independent India.
SatiBanned by law.
Child marriageBanned by law.
DowryReceiving a dowry has been banned by law.
Cheating through magicThe law banning the use of magic to cheat people was first enacted in Maharashtra.

Such customs divided society and created inequality, so laws had to be made to put an end to them.

(b) Why do we need to make laws for the protection of the environment?

We depend on nature in many ways and most of our needs are met by nature itself. If natural resources are used carelessly, they will not last. Laws are needed so that these resources are used carefully and remain available in sufficient quantity for the generations that come after us. Just as laws keep equality and justice in society, laws are needed to keep the environment safe.
